South African Lotto Winner Goes From Living in Shack To Owning Three Houses

A 47-year-old mother from South Africa has gone from living in poverty to owning three luxury houses after hitting a lotto jackpot.

The lady, who lived in an informal settlement in Cape Town, says she plans on buying homes for herself and family and paying for her daughters education after winning a R16 million jackpot.

She found out that she had won while she was at work after her daughter phoned her to give her the good news, “My daughter called me and told me that I was actually a millionaire. I could not believe it‚ I went to my supervisor and asked her if I could leave work early on that day."

Along with buying houses and paying for her daughter's education, she also plans on retiring. “I have been working since I was 16 years old‚ I have never stopped‚ now is my time to rest‚" she said.

She also plans on donating a portion of her winnings to charity to help people in the same situation that she was, "I want to be a blessing I’ve always wished for to other people”‚ she said.
