Made up of 17 workers from a Royal Bank of Scotland mortgage office in Greenock, the syndicate made headlines recently with a £1,140,402.60 jackpot win.

Although the group has been playing the lottery together since 2009, their win still came as a surprise, says syndicate leader Margaret Kane. "It’s funny because one of the girls who was going to be off for a few days said to me to call her if we win any millions over the weekend, and we did. She didn't believe me when I called her."

It's taken the group a while to recover from the shock of winning, but now that they have, they're set to each use their share of the cash to change their lives. "A lot of the girls on our team have been saving to buy their first homes, and now they have enough to put down a sizeable lump sum – how ironic when we all work in a mortgage advice centre", says Margaret. "The members of our syndicate range in ages from 29 to 59. This money will literally change the lives of 17 families in Greenock. It really is amazing."
