Although she has chosen to stay anonymous, the South Carolina winner has revealed some details on what she plans to do with some of her incredible lottery jackpot. She has opted to claim the winnings as a lump cash sum which will come to $877 million in her bank account.
"Words can’t describe the feeling of such incredible luck. I do realise that such good fortune carries a tremendous social responsibility, and it gives me a unique opportunity to assist, support and contribute to charities and causes that are close to my heart." she told local newspapers.
She also revealed that she is not a regular lottery player but only bought a ticket when she saw that the jackpot had reached $1.5 billion. She said that she waited for months to claim her prize as she was researching how she could stay anonymous.
She revealed that she will be making donations to various charities including the Ronald McDonald House of Charities of Columbia, Hurricane Florence Relief Fund, the City of Simpsonville Art Center and the American Red Cross.
She also said that she hopes she can remain completely anonymous going forward and live a relatively normal life without worrying about having to safeguard her money.
